What
people are saying about Access Acceleration:
How has Access Acceleration helped you develop your playing ability? "Karen, I have just finished your Fit-back Class. I started with an aching back and left feeling a fit-back. Thanks. But I want to congratulate you for having such a great trainer on your staff - Kelli Langran. She is a fine teacher -- I learned about draw-ins, bridges, and a whole bunch of other stretches. She is a good disciplinarian - insisting on the right details. She does it all with a fun attitude. But for me (I have never been much of an athlete) she has truly motivated me to work on this to help my old (I am 86), stiff, aching body - even when I'm not in class. I'll be back for more sometime, especially with Kelli." Al
Reynolds "I have to say this is an AWESOME Program so far. I can really see the improvement in myself. Craig pushes me just right so that I keep improving without getting discouraged, and the results are starting to show in my competition with the dogs!!! We’ll see this weekend, big trial Saturday, but I am expecting to do well. I can finally run with them without hesitation, and actually talk to them when I’m done instead of just gasping for breath! Thanks!" Barb
Burri "You’re the best Coach Kay!! The past two summers have made me a different athlete... I can’t believe how much faster I’ve gotten. My improvement in speed has enabled me to become recruited by many different colleges for football. Thanks!" Kyle
McAllister "I started Access Acceleration’s Speed, Agility and Quickness in the summer of 2002. Speed, Agility, and Quickness has a lot of cool equipment that has helped me improve my speed. One of the best things is Rocket Ropes that help me learn how to run faster. Along with Rocket Ropes, we use Parachutes and the Viper Cords to add to the fun of the program. In 2006 I added the Strength and Conditioning Class to my schedule. Since adding Strength and Conditioning I have noticed great improvements in my playing ability. The thing I like about Access Acceleration is that Karen and Charlie are really friendly, and ready to help me at anytime during my workout." Dave
Pazzani "Speed camp has always been a positive, fun experience, and I enjoy going. I like being able to see how hard work has paid off as the drills from camp are transferred onto the playing field while enhancing my overall performance. Speed camp not only increases your strength, speed, and endurance but confidence as well. I would encourage all of my friends and teammates to go. Karen and Charlie are awesome and have been very helpful, nice, caring and willing to share their knowledge with me." Liz
Nigrello “Working out with Karen and Charlie has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my athletic career. Because I have been strengthening my muscles I have prevented many potential injuries. After I leave I am always energized and I feel motivated. It is such a positive and friendly atmosphere to train in. As a top level competitive athlete I know I need this to bring me to the next level.” Alexa
Ellis “I have been training with Karen Kay fat Access Acceleration or the last 3 years and have been able to take one full second off of my 60 yard dash. Since improving my forward speed, I have been told by pro scouts and college recruiters that I have very good baseball skills, but need to improve my overall speed, agility, and quickness. As a current Division 1 baseball prospect I have chosen Access Acceleration to form the plan to remove another ½ second from my 60-yard dash. Having played for some of the most elite baseball programs in the country, most recently IMG Academies in Bradenton, FL, I feel that I can benefit tremendously from the education and training I receive from Access Acceleration to take me to the next level.” Stefan
Wagner "Training with Access Acceleration over the summer did just what the name promised; it accelerated me into great shape and made me ready for my fall sport. The trainers gave us great exercises that allowed us to have fun while getting us in shape. I really appreciate all the work Karen and Charlie put into their job to help us kids achieve our goals." Thanks again Karen and Charlie!” Kelly
Hughes << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped you develop strength and fitness? “At the end of the soccer season my coach told me the biggest single issue at high school tryouts would be conditioning. He encouraged me to stay fit over the summer. I chose to join the strength training and speed and agility programs at Access Acceleration to keep me on a program. The instructors were terrific and the other participants in my group were really inspiring. I really feel confident as I prepare for tryouts.” Katherine
Gager “I first started because I saw my sister getting stronger. At first all I did was the Speed, Agility, and Quickness Training, then my parents and myself wanted me to get stronger so I started doing the Group Weight Training. I noticed strengthening in my body and I am very impressed with my improvement. I would like to thank my Trainers Karen, Charlie and Heidi.” Matt
Cunningham << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped you recover from an injury? “In December of 2005, I underwent knee surgery and after the normal post-operative rehabilitation I knew I was not physically prepared to return to my passion of singles tennis several times a week. My surgeon referred me to Karen Kay at Access Acceleration.” “The knowledge and commitment exhibited by Karen and her staff cannot be overstated. Equally important, their ability to communicate that knowledge has truly been life changing. They provide you the plan and the tools to rebuild a stronger more efficient body. The intense one on one attention early on provides you with a program to help you meet your goals. As you progress the program is adjusted accordingly.” “I continue working out with Karen and her staff three times a week. I am also back playing singles tennis several times a week and keeping up with my four grandsons. My single regret is not having found Karen ten years ago. Learning then what I know now might well have precluded my need for ever undergoing the surgery.” Linda
Ravenelle “I have a condition called "spondylothesis" which basically is a painful stiff lower back. I have had this back pain since 1993. I have been to a chiropractor, doctor, massage specialist, physical therapist, and tried Pilates to strengthen my core. Nothing would get rid of the pain. I was referred to Karen Kay at Access Acceleration in May 2006. I wish I had been referred to Access Acceleration many years ago. The strengthening exercises Karen has given me, the encouragement she gives me, and most of all the stretching she has showed me has by far exceeded my expectations. I actually leave there "pain free". I am so happy to have found Karen and will continue to be with her for a long time "pain free". Rosemary
Garneau “After only one month of training I have seen and felt a big difference in my body. I first came to Access Acceleration because I had a bad knee that I had injured during the ice hockey season. The trainers at Access Acceleration helped to put me on a routine of exercises. These exercises changed on a daily basis, so I was never bored. The trainers set a program of exercises that fit the needs of strengthening my knee. I am more confident now that my knees have become stronger and have started skating again. The trainers are very friendly and create a fun and challenging atmosphere.” Kate
Cunningham “I came to Access Acceleration to rehab a shoulder injury and to get into better shape for my last high school basketball season and the start of college. It has only been a few weeks since I have come to Access Acceleration but I can already see changes with my shoulder and overall conditioning. Karen and Charlie are really easy to work with, and it is nice to have one of them there to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly.” Kerry
Cashman "Training at Access Acceleration is one of the best things I have ever done to come back from an injury. My knees were in pretty bad shape, and I had to wear a hinged knee brace when I played soccer. After I went to Acceleration for a year and worked on strengthening my legs, I no longer needed my awful brace. Now I play with complete confidence. Access Acceleration was such a help to me that I still go twice a week to keep in shape and stay injury free. The trainers make the work out experience really fun." Cassie
Heinrich “I can’t thank you enough for helping me to get ready for my college season. My speed and agility has improved so much. I also appreciate all your advice in helping me to adjust to being a college athlete. . .you’ve coached at the highest level and it really helps to have someone to work with that understands the expectations placed on a college athlete!” Jim
Ellis “I sprained both of my ankles and wasn’t sure if I wanted to play sports anymore if I was always going to be injured. I’m so glad Dr. Siegel sent me to talk with Karen. All the work she has done with me has really helped me improve in all three of my sports. I’m having fun again and I’m a better athlete!!”
Lyndze Priebe “What I love about Charlie is that he walks his talk. As a colleague, I experienced Charlie's expertise and knowledge of the body. He is outstanding in his field. Charlie is dedicated, passionate and committed to educating and training others. He not only has the bodywork skills to help an athlete recover from injuries but the knowledge to help prevent them from getting new ones.” Kathy
Roska, RN << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped you with developing endurance? "Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Charlie will quickly learn how committed he is to assisting you in reaching your goals. Whether this is through weekly therapeutic sessions to keep your body in optimal condition or in developing a plan of action to tackle your first (or 15th) 10K, marathon, triathlon or walk around the park, Charlie is there to meet your needs. Whether you’re an elite athlete, weekend warrior, or someone who has not exercised in 10 years, Charlie will develop a roadmap for success to specifically meet your needs. Stuart
Chase "Charlie Murdach is the fish I want to follow in the pool, the mountain lion I want to chase on the trails, and the truck I like to follow on the bike! He is the best triathlon-training mate an athlete could hope for.... knowledgeable, strong, fast and a lot of fun to boot. His understanding of physiology and training methods plus his experience as an Ironman and Ultra-Runner are an unparalleled asset to anyone he coaches, works with, or even just trains with." Ginger
Ellsworth Reiner "Charlie is the perfect blend of knowledge, persistence, understanding, preparedness and personality assisting anyone to be successful in their own personal goals. He has a way about him making the impossible, possible." Jeffrey
B. Casebolt, PhD, M.S., C.S.C.S “I have had the benefit of training with Charlie Murdach for two Ironman seasons. He was a workout leader for all sports and was particularly helpful in correcting my swimming and running inefficiencies. In addition, Charlie has been an invaluable consulting resource on racing topics like pacing, proper nutrition and course-specific tactics for triathlons like Ironman Canada, Wildflower, and Escape from Alcatraz.” Kurt
Reiner “Charlie helped me immensely throughout my Ironman training. Every time I had a question I knew that Charlie could help- whether it be about stretching sore muscles or proper nutrition or even a silly question about bike mechanics. Charlie is someone who was born to be a coach and mentor to people. His personality and demeanor, coupled with his extensive training and depth of knowledge gives Charlie the edge to work with any level of athlete from the weekend warrior to the elite.” Julie
Hanna Smith “Charlie has been a friend and training partner since 2000. Together we trained through several demanding triathlons, which included several Half-Ironman distance races such as Wildflower and Vineman in California and Ironman Canada in Penticton, British Columbia. Although we were peers, Charlie was a constant motivator and helped me achieve personal bests. He improved my techniques in each of triathlon's three disciplines, helped develop strategies for race-day nutrition, and also taught me a great deal about achieving life's balance. Charlie is a wealth of knowledge, constantly innovating and adapting his guidance to fit personal goals and circumstances. I cannot imagine a better ally.” Christian
Marsh << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped coaches? “Coach Kay is an outstanding coach and communicator that has provided our basketball team with a level of conditioning we have never achieved in the past. She has taught our athletes the importance of proper training and how it prevents injuries. Thank you so much!" Sue
Rowe “Thank you so much for coming to educate me and my coaches on how important core strength is to preventing injuries in gymnastics. Our coaching staff is very excited about implementing the stability ball and balance exercises that you taught us. We’d also like to especially thank you for helping our injured athletes to return to competition.” Lou
Datillio “As a fellow athlete, coach, and fitness professional, I place Charlie at the top when I think of customer service and personal attention. Charlie’s professionalism, candor, trustworthiness, autonomy, and capacity to lead people are extraordinary. I can think of no other person who is more capable of helping an individual, a group, or an entire team of people meet their goals. Charlie’s capacity to maintain current awareness of new techniques in triathlon, ultra-marathon, strength training, massage, physical therapy, and other general athletic disciplines always ensured our team was equipped with the latest tools to be successful.” Wayne
Spaulding “Just a quick note to thank you for teaching our team how to perform the dynamic stretching routine. You have made quite an impact on my athletes that have trained with you and I really appreciate all that you do for our field hockey players.” Deb
Grott << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped you prepare for surgery? "Coach Kay was the only one to take the time to talk with me and put all the pieces together regarding my shoulder injury. She then helped me to communicate all of my concerns with Dr. Siegel and made me feel positive about my decision to have surgery. Access Rehab helped me after surgery, but I wouldn’t have been ready for the Shriner’s Football Game without her help! Playing in that game was a dream come true for me and I wouldn’t have been ready without her help!" Chris
Ward << top of page >> How has Access Acceleration helped you with weight control? “August 2006 marked my first year Strength and Conditioning training at Access Acceleration. I came to Karen Kay with a bundle of frustrations, a few old injuries and a “wish list” for a new sleek muscle defined body! Although she could have laughed at me, being a 56-year-old menopausal woman, she didn’t, instead she seriously listened and evaluated ALL of my problems and goals. Incorporating reasonable exercises that would achieve my mission, address old injuries, rev up my metabolism (to loose weight) and promote stronger bones because osteoporosis is genetic in my family. A tall order! However, her biggest challenge was convincing me that muscle weighs more than fat and by weight training I would not turn into a husky mammoth looking woman without weight loss! A year has passed, I have lost a few pounds (still short of my goal weight) dropped a dress size and get rave’s from my husband. With the help of expert and very talented trainers I am narrowing the gap on all of my goals. Kudos! Thank you Karen and Charlie.” Addie
Griset “One of the best assets that Access Acceleration has is Karen Kay. I initially began my fat burning program in September with Karen On the first day, she was prepared with a list of exercises she felt I would be ready for. While I started my first exercises, she was able to point out my weaknesses such as tight hips and weak core strength. She explained to me why I had not been able to do a squat in the past without falling backwards. Karen has changed my thinking about fitness and now I am unable to wake up in the morning and go to the gym. Since working with Karen I feel my legs have gotten more toned and I feel more confident. I am now more flexible and have seen many strength gains and have much less pain in my knees.” Katrina
Lynn Fontaine “I am 55 years old and my wife Jeanne is 49 years old. For the past year and a half, we have been participating in physical training classes under the direction of Karen Kay. Originally I started the in her Golf Conditioning Class. I found this class to be so effective that I recommended Karen as an instructor for my wife and friends. As a result of Karen’s enthusiasm and impressive knowledge, we have continued to train with her. Karen’s’ knowledge of physiology and physical fitness is impressive and has proved invaluable to us as we attempt to improve our level of physical fitness in spite of existing injuries and other physical limitation. Both Jeanne and I are healthier as a result of working with Karen. And have gone on to change and improve upon our initial fitness goals. For me personally, I have started a medically supervised weight control program. Karen’s training is an integral part of that program. She has helped to ensure that I continue to focus on an exercise program, which in conjunction with the medical and diet program has allowed me to lose in excess of 20 pounds and greatly improve my overall health. Karen (Kay) and Josh (Dr Siegel): I came to Josh(Dr Siegel) for a second opinion, and he asked the right questions: what were my long term athletic goals? Did I want to run marathons and lots of races every year, or did I just want to be able to get back to casual running a few days a week with an occasional 5 K? That was all I wanted--just to be able to get back to the sport I had been addicted to for 30 years (which had evidently destroyed my ankles and knees). He said: you do NOT need surgery as it would keep me from running for several more months. He said I needed KAREN! (Karen Kay, Access Acceleration) Karen(Kay), you did your incredible magic--made me use two huge muscles (rear end!) that I had evidently not been using for years. You somehow discovered that I had been putting all my weight on my knees and ankles; you taught me how to walk again, and then to run. I had to stop coming to you long before I was "ready" because I was going to be out of the country for a month. But I actually kept up with the program, every day! And I was happily jogging lightly on the beach in Puerto Rico in February. And as of today, I have started training for a triathlon (the mini kind--only a 3 mile run) which is in late July. I only run or jog when it doesn't hurt, I use the butt muscles ALL the time now, hiking, biking, walking..not just running. (and, as an added value side benefit: I have more tone in my butt and upper legs than I have since I was 30!) I turn 60 July 6, and I will happily be swimming, biking, and yes RUNNING, for years to come. I do need to come back for more help, and need to see you for some inspiration in upper body weight training, but I just wanted to say a sincere and long overdue thank you. With
tons of gratitude, ML << top of page >> |
